 The first midterm election after a new president takes the White House is often a rough one for the president's political party. In 2010, after the election of President Barack Obama, Democrats suffered huge losses both in Congress and in the North Carolina legislature. Two years into the first term of President Donald Trump, North Carolina Democrats are hoping for a similar anti-incumbent rout.
