Altria plans to end sale of pod e-cigs, support raising minimum age to 21 to buy tobacco products

Altria Group Inc., owner of the largest U.S. tobacco manufacturer, announced a stunning production and distribution move Thursday, saying it is removing the pod versions of its electronic cigarettes from the retail marketplace. The move by subsidiary Nu Mark affects its MarkTen Elite and Apex by MarkTen products. Perhaps most importantly, from a socioeconomic standpoint, Altria said it would support federal legislation establishing 21 as the minimum age to purchase any tobacco product.
