Fueled by a tight supply of legal farm workers, the number of H-2A temporary agricultural workers certified soared by more than 20% in the past year. The U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Foreign Labor Certification said that the number of H-2A workers certified in fiscal year 2018 (October 2017 through September 2018) totaled 242,762 positions, up 21% from 200,649 positions certified in fiscal year 2017 and 47% higher than 165,741 positions certified in fiscal year 2016.
