It is my distinct honor to announce that the College of Textiles at NC State will now be known as the Wilson College of Textiles thanks to an extraordinary $28 million endowment gift from Frederick “Fred” Eugene Wilson Jr. ’61 and the Wilson family. This gift, the largest made to the college in its 119-year history, establishes the Wilson College of Textiles as only the second named school at NC State.

The generosity of the Wilson family will ensure the college and the university continue to meet our land-grant mission to serve the people of North Carolina by providing more educational opportunities to more people and by leading innovation that solves problems, makes a positive difference in lives and propels our economy.

As the textiles industry has changed, this college has been able to change along with it — to adapt, to innovate and to keep pushing forward. Today, we’re proud to say that NC State boasts the only remaining textiles college in the United States. We’re poised to build on that outstanding tradition and to unleash this college’s, and this university’s, even greater potential. That’s what our Think and Do the Extraordinary Campaign is all about.

This is an extraordinary moment in Wolfpack history, and we are so grateful to the Wilson family for establishing this legacy.

Sincerely,
Randy Woodson
Chancellor
