An attorney for former Agriprocessors Inc. CEO Sholom Rubashkin says the kosher meatpacking plant could be sold within days, the Des Moines Register reported.

Baruch Weiss made the statement in court on Wednesday, during a hearing determining whether Rubashkin would be released on bond while awaiting trial on bank fraud and identity theft charges, among other allegations.

Weiss said unnamed investors are negotiating to buy the company, and that "the company must be sold" in order to repay lenders involved in federal bank fraud charges against Rubashkin.

On the other hand, Chaim Abrahams, spokesman for the Postville, Iowa company, told the Register that he aims to resume production soon. Agriprocessors' production lines have been shut down all week.
