Anita Earls, the Democratic candidate for a seat on the North Carolina Supreme Court, claimed victory Tuesday night. With 99 percent of the state’s 2,700 voting precincts reporting results at 11:30 p.m., Earls had half of the vote. The two Republicans in the race, including incumbent justice Barbara Jackson, split the other half of the vote.
