Three months after jury awarded millions in hog-waste lawsuit, trial begins in another case

Eight neighbors of a Sampson County hog farm saw their lawsuit open in federal court Tuesday, a case based on their complaints of horrible smells, late-night noise and other nuisances that make life hard to enjoy. The case against Murphy-Brown, the state’s largest hog producer, is now in jury selection and expected to last for a month. The lawsuit is one of many facing the pork giant.
