WNC market improvements to include business incubator

Physical improvements, including a new Center for Agricultural and Food Entrepreneurship (CAFÉ), are planned for the WNC Farmers Market as the result of a $1.25 million grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission. This food incubator concept will help aspiring food entrepreneurs meet regulatory compliance for safe and wholesome food production and will provide guidance on how to increase incomes and economic opportunities. market.  

“This will be an entrepreneurial hotbed, where people can come in and perfect their recipes and learn modern  food techniques all while doing that in a facility that is built to be a food-ready production facility," said David Smith, NCDA&CS deputy commissioner.
