The Food and Drug Administration, as had been foreshadowed for weeks, is taking a dramatically tighter regulatory approach to tobacco products, in particular electronic cigarettes and traditional menthol cigarettes. Dr. Scott Gottlieb, the FDA's commissioner, said Thursday the agency has started the process for banning traditional menthol cigarettes and cigars from retail and prohibiting all e-cig flavors outside of tobacco, menthol and mint.
