Chemours to pay $12 million fine as part of GenX agreement

Late Wednesday, state environmental regulators, Cape Fear River Watch and chemical giant Chemours announced agreement on a wide-reaching proposed consent order, a move that both governs the company’s activities at its Fayetteville Works plant and is geared toward public understanding of GenX and similar compounds. If approved by a Bladen County Superior Court Judge, the agreement would require the company to limit the discharges of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS)...
