Area officials had mixed reactions Friday to an agreement among chemical giant Chemours, local environmental groups and state regulators that calls for civil penalties and regulation around GenX and other chemical compounds found in the Cape Fear River. “Finally, we’re moving in a good direction in respect to providing clean drinking water to residents of the city of Wilmington,” Mayor Bill Saffo said.
