The Codex task force on antibiotic resistance is currently negotiating global guidance on antibiotic use in agriculture. It will meet in South Korea next month. This week, a coalition of 25 public health, consumer advocacy and animal rights' groupsurged Gottlieb to make clear at the meeting that the U.S. opposes use of antibiotics important to human medicine for growth promotion in livestock.
