Leaders of the U.S., Mexico and Canada have formally signed a trade deal intended to replace NAFTA, but the new accord has a long road ahead as lawmakers in all three countries must still pass it before it goes into effect. It took over a year of negotiations to reach this point. So what’s changed from the 25-year-old North American Free Trade Agreement and why should you care? The text of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement is 1,809 pages long – about 100 more than the North American Free Trade Agreement – and includes numerous tweaks from its predecessor, both big and small.
