The Senate Agriculture Committee on Wednesday voted in favor of Mindy Brashears’ nomination as undersecretary of agriculture for food safety, Sen. Pat Roberts, R-Kan., announced.

Two other nominees also were endorsed by the committee: Scott Hutchins as undersecretary of agriculture for research, education and economics, and Naomi Earp as assistant secretary of agriculture for civil rights.

The nominations can now be considered for confirmation by the full U.S. Senate.

Brashears is a food safety and public health professor at Texas Tech University, where her research focuses on improving food safety standards for public health.
