Robert "Rob" G. Culp III, founder and chairman of High Point-based Culp Inc., died on Dec. 8 after battling leukemia. Born Sept. 11, 1946, Culp founded the fabric manufacturing company with his father, Robert G. Culp Jr., in 1972. Culp served as CEO of the company from 1981 to 2007. He served as chairman since 1990.
