Eastover has the flea drop. Raleigh has the acorn drop. Brasstown used to have the live opossum drop but that’s gone the way of the horse and buggy, thank goodness. Another quirky celebration marks the New Year about an hour east of Fayetteville in Mount Olive. That’s where, on the corner of Cucumber and Vine streets on Monday, a glowing green pickle descends at 7 p.m., or midnight Greenwich Mean Time. It’s a fitting celebration for the home of Mt.
