Wilson crop income charts $30 million decline

Wilson County’s estimated 2018 income from sales of farm products is off by $30.3 million from 2017.
Norman Harrell, director of the North Carolina Cooperative Extension office in Wilson County, said 2018 was very difficult for the farming community. Harrell said the overall income for the county was $114,276,457, which is down $30,385,110 from 2017 earnings of $144,661,567. Earnings in 2016 were $173,879,504. Tobacco growers were hit hardest in Wilson County.
