Food inspections continue through the shutdown — but with some compromises

The standoff over the border wall continues. And so does the partial shutdown of the U.S. government. Well into week 3 with some 800,000 federal workers in employment limbo, among the government agencies shut down are the Department of Agriculture and the Food and Drug Administration, the two agencies tasked with keeping U.S. food safe. Food inspectors are still on the job.
