Tryon International Equestrian Center fined $64,437

Tryon International Equestrian Center has been fined for water quality violations. On Dec. 13, the N.C. Department of Environmental Quality issued a civil penalty of $64,437 to the managers of the Tryon International Equestrian Center for eight violations by impacting approximately 11,438 linear feet of eight streams with sediment deposition. TIEC was given 30 days by DEQ to submit payment, request for remission or file a written petition with the Office of Administrative Hearings. TIEC plans to appeal the fine.
