Duke Energy seeks to boost solar operations in the Carolinas in 2019

 Duke Energy plans to add 680 megawatts of solar energy — enough to power about 125,000 homes — to its capacity in 2019, according to the company. The company currently has over 2,500 megawatts of solar energy capacity in the Carolinas and added 500 megawatts in 2018. Duke Energy launched a competitive bidding process for new solar capacity last year. The process is being overseen by an independent administrator.
