 Two state representatives announced plans to run for the District 3 congressional seat held by Walter B. Jones, who died Feb. 10. Phil Shepard and Michael Speciale announced their plans in separate press releases on Monday. Shepard represents the 15th district in the N.C. House and is also pastor at Lighthouse Baptist Church in Jacksonville. He was elected to office in 2010. Speciale represents the 3rd district in the N.C. House and is in his seventh year in the general assembly.
