USDA could get disaster aid out to farmers and ranchers "within six weeks" of Congress passing a $12 billion relief package, Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue told the Georgia Senate Agriculture and Consumer Affairs Committee on Tuesday. Perdue reiterated his disappointment that the government spending deal, H.J. Res. 31 (116), didn't include disaster money, stating that it was stripped at the very end of negotiations after USDA had "worked feverishly" with the White House to prepare.
