Farmers, activists speak on livestock permits proposed changes

Farmers and citizens traveled from every end of Eastern North Carolina to offer their thoughts on the proposed updates to the state’s livestock permitting process Tuesday night. Hosted by the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) and held at James Sprunt Community College in Kenansville, dozens of testimonies were heard from those expressing concerns over the changes. The meeting was held as part of the public comment period for the changes, which will close March 4.
