Veterans with a penchant for farming and agriculture will soon have a tailored path to jump start their careers in the industry following their service. The Veterans Employment Base Camp and Organic Garden (VEBCOG), a New Bern-based nonprofit designed to reintroduce unemployed and disabled veterans into the workforce, has received a $281,000 grant from the USDA and the National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) for an Onslow and Craven Counties Veterans Outreach Project to Develop Beginning Farmers program.
