WINTER WHEAT SEEDINGS 2019 winter wheat seedings in North Carolina total 380,000 acres.

SOWS FARROWING North Carolina producers intend to farrow 455,000 sows during the December 2018 – February 2019 quarter and 465,000 sows during the March – May 2019 quarter. 

PIG CROP The State’s pig crop during the September – November 2018 period totaled 4.7 million head, up 1% from the same period last year. 

PIGS PER LITTER Pigs saved per litter averaged at 10.15, which is down from the 10.2 pigs saved during the same quarter last year.

HOGS AND PIGS All hogs and pigs on North Carolina farms on December 1, 2018 totaled 9.1 million head, down 2% from September 1 up 1% from last year.
