Piedmont Natural Gas customers in North Carolina will see their monthly bills drop March 1, as the N.C. Utilities Commission approved the utility’s request to reduce the benchmark price charged to customers for gas. Piedmont filed a petition on Feb. 15 with the N.C. Utilities Commission seeking a reduction of the benchmark price to $2.75 per dekatherm from $3.75 per dekatherm. The commission issued an order on Tuesday approving that request.
