The filing period for candidates running in the special election for North Carolina’s 3rd Congressional District opened Monday and six candidates made their bid to fill the vacant seat official. Four Republicans and two Democrats had filed as the first day closed at 5 p.m. Phil Law of Jacksonville, who ran as a candidate in the Republican primary for the Congressional seat in 2018, and Michele Nix of Kinston were among the first Republicans to make their bid for office official.
