Clean Air Carolina, a Charlotte-based environmental advocacy group, has filed a lawsuit questioning a wood pellet manufacturing facility’s compliance with the Clean Air Act. The suit challenges a permit granted by North Carolina’s Department of Environmental Quality to manufacturer Enviva Hamlet, claiming the air pollution from the new facility was underestimated. The lawsuit was filed on Feb. 13 and is scheduled to be heard in mid-June.
