The strawberry crop is looking good so far, according to Richard Whitaker of Whitaker Farms, which has more than six acres of the berries. “I looked at some blooms this morning and didn’t see any hurt,” he said Thursday. “We covered them with a fabric in January” to protect the plants from the cold. He said they would uncover the strawberries whenever the temperature gets up into the 70s, covering again at night if it gets too cold. For more of this story, click here.
