So far, the special election has one Democrat, two Republicans and a Libertarian. Democrat Dan McCready of Charlotte filed on Tuesday to run again for the 9th District Congressional seat in this year’s special election. McCready was 905 votes behind Republican Mark Harris in the November election. That result was never certified as evidence emerged that an operative hired by the Harris campaign committed absentee ballot fraud. Instead, a new election was ordered.
