The N.C. House approved a bill Wednesday that would compel sheriffs to cooperate with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and honor the agency’s detainers on suspected undocumented immigrants in their jails. The House voted 64-50 to pass the bill along mostly partisan lines. House Speaker Tim Moore, R-Cleveland, said that the legislation, HB 370, will now go to the N.C. Senate.
