The U.S. International Trade Commission said Monday it will only hold a vote on its review of a six-year-old U.S.-Mexico tomato suspension agreement on May 9 if the Commerce Department decides not to terminate the deal on May 7.
The agreement halts an anti-dumping investigation against Mexican tomato imports and is subject to ITC review every five years to determine whether there's enough evidence that U.S. producers are still threatened with injury. If the ITC finds a threat no longer exists, that would mark the end of the suspension agreement and possible duties.
