Carmichael Farms LLC plans to invest $26.5 million and create 50 jobs in Scotland County by expanding its farming operations to include manufacturing and packing of agriculture products, officials announced Tuesday morning. The family business is the first to locate in the county’s incubator park and will receive $500,000 in tax grants over five years, according to Bob Davis, chairman of the county Board of Commissioners. Carmichael Farms must meet the job creation and investment threshold as well as pay property taxes to be eligible for the incentives.
