Hormel Foods' Austin, Minn., pork plant was among a new round of U.S. pork exporters banned by Russia, USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service said.

Others involved in the latest de-listing were Quality Pork Processors, Austin, Minn.; Trim-Rite Food Corp., Carpentersville, Ill.; L&K Packing International, Schleswig, Iowa; and Ankeny Processing Services, Ankeny, Iowa. The ban is effective Jan. 1.

FSIS spokeswoman Amanda Eamich told Meatingplace.com that Russia's latest action brings to 19 the number of U.S. pork plant de-listings stemming from Russia's audit of U.S. facilities in October.

Eamich said FSIS has received no information from Russia beyond letters stating these establishments do not meet Russian requirements.
