Enjoy local food and beverages at the Food Lion Local Goodness Marketplace during the Got to Be NC Festival.
It’s time to get ready for the 2019 Got to Be NC Festival at the State Fairgrounds in Raleigh. This event combines tractors, food, music, a carnival and kids activities with nearly 100 North Carolina food companies, breweries and wineries sampling and selling their products.
“We’ve got quite a few new companies participating this year,” said Sherry Barefoot, specialty foods marketing specialist. We also have returning companies that have interesting stories behind their business. Farrell Farms in Goldsboro is a non-profit that donates 100 percent of its profit to abandoned and orphaned children. Camp Glory Farm are members of the Got To Be NC program as well as the NC Agritourism Networking Association. The purpose of the farm is to allow missionary children a safe place to adjust from overseas living to the American culture through interaction with farm animals.
“A lot of our companies have unique and interesting stories,” Barefoot added. “What’s special about the marketplace is it allows consumers to directly connect with these companies and learn a little about the products made right here in North Carolina.
“The Marketplace will also feature Scott Mason, The Tar Heel Traveler, who will be promoting his new book,” Barefoot said. ” We are also excited that the Carolina Hurricanes are bringing their mobile tour to the event.”

Admission to enter the Food Lion Local Goodness Marketplace in the Exposition Center is $3 and children age 6 and under are free, and the Got to Be NC Festival is free. Farmers, growers and manufacturers in the marketplace are part of the NCDA&CS Got to Be NC program.
The Got to Be NC Festival runs May 17 through 19 at the State Fairgrounds in Raleigh.
