Campbell medical school trying to fill gaps in rural health care

Going to school in Harnett County can provide quite a culture shock for students from big cities. "Truthfully speaking, coming from Long Island, New York -- it's a big place," said Ryan Arias, a medical student from New York City. He knew he would be entering a different world when he applied to Campbell University's School of Osteopathic Medicine. Arias wanted to study in a rural area in hopes of eventually practicing medicine where he feels there is a great need. Right now only 12% of the country's primary-care physicians work in rural areas.
