Forested land in western N Carolina now a protected area

Almost 80 acres of property in western North Carolina once eyed as a firing gun range for a sheriff's office is now a natural protected area. The Hendersonville Times-News reports that Conserving Carolina purchased the 78 acres of forested land in Saluda last month. It hopes to add the property to the Green River Game Lands, which the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission manages.
