Gildan plans to shut down yarn-spinning plant in Ga.; third U.S. closing in 16 months

Gildan Activewear Inc. confirmed last week the closing of a third U.S. manufacturing facility in the past 16 months, this time a yarn-spinning plant in Columbus, Ga. The Montreal basic-apparel manufacturer filed a 60-day WARN Act notice with the Georgia Commerce Department. The plant has 97 employees.
