A runoff election to chose a Republican candidate for North Carolina’s 3rd Congressional District U.S. House seat will be held on Tuesday, July 9. During a special primary election held on April 30 to fill the seat left vacant following the death of Walter B. Jones, Jr., no candidate in the Republican field received more than 30 percent of the vote, leading to the July 9 runoff. Republicans Greg Murphy and Joan Perry will face off for a spot as the Republican candidate in the general election, which will be held September 10.
