A third candidate with connections to the Fayetteville area is running for lieutenant governor. Republican Greg Gebhardt of Holly Springs in Wake County announced his campaign last week. He is a former soldier and Iraq War veteran who was stationed at Fort Bragg. His wife, Carrie, is a nurse who works in Fayetteville, he said in his announcement. Gebhardt also worked for several years as an aide to Republican state Rep. David Lewis of Harnett County.
