OFF FARM GRAIN STOCKS Off farm grain stocks reported for Soybeans totaled 6,655,000 as of June 1, 2019. This was down 15% from the 7,820,000 bushels reported during the same quarter last year.

SOWS FARROWING North Carolina producers intend to farrow 470,000 sows during both the June–August and the September–November 2019 quarters.

PIG CROP The State’s pig crop during the March–May 2019 period totaled 4.83 million head, up 5% from the same period last year. These pigs were produced by 460,000 sows.

PIGS PER LITTER The number of pigs saved per litter averaged 10.5, which is up from the 10.1 pigs saved during the same quarter last year.

HOGS & PIGS Hogs and pigs North Carolina farms June 1, 2019 totaled 9.2 million head, up 2% from last quarter and up 3% last year.
