Croatan still recovering from Florence, with human facilities damaged worst

Nearly one year after Hurricane Florence pummeled North Carolina’s central coast, Croatan National Forest is still recovering from an estimated $17 million in damage to the forest’s infrastructure and costs to respond to the storm. The storm inflicted widespread damage to the national forest as well as to nearby coastal communities like New Bern.
