NC Small Grain Growers Association’s Assessment Referendum

The NC Small Grain Growers Association’s Assessment Referendum will take place on August 7, 2019. Polling places will be located throughout the state in each county extension office. This assessment is for a six-year period on all small grain (wheat, rye, oats, barley, rapeseed/canola, and grain sorghum). The assessment will be 1/2 of 1% on wheat, rye, oats, barley, rapeseed/canola, and grain sorghum for a six-year period. This assessment period will begin on January 1, 2020, and will continue until December 31, 2025.

Date:Wednesday, August 7, 2019

Time:  8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Polling Location:
N.C. Cooperative Extension of Camden County office, 120 NC Highway 343 North, Camden, NC 27921 (we have moved into the modular building behind our old office, use the same driveway and continue all the way to the back of the property).

Eligibility:
Any NC farmer who is a grower of small grain (wheat, oats, rye, barley, grain, sorghum, and canola/rapeseed). A farmer/grower must sign an affidavit sheet claiming age, ownership, and residency.

Age:
Any farmer/grower over the age of 18 on August 7, 2019.

Ballot Specifics:
“Yes” indicates a vote in favor of continuing the state assessment program on small grain. “No” indicates a vote against continuing the state assessment on small grain.
