Wilson Community College Agritech program
Story Date: 8/8/2019

  Source: WILSON COMMUNITY COLLEGE

The Agritech program will be offered again this fall at Wilson Community College.  This program is a "hands on" program for students that will help prepare them to work on a farm or agribusiness. The program will be one day per week during the fall semester. The first part of the semester will have classroom work where students will be able to obtain certifications such as a fork lift operator and private pesticide applicator license. Other topics included are:  overview of agriculture in Wilson County and North Carolina, agronomy, precision agriculture, small engine mechanics, soft skill development, Global Positioning Systems, and more.  The second half of the semester will include "shadowing" at farms and agribusinesses.

We feel like these experiences will have students with a good basic skill set to work on farms and agribusinesses. Please share this announcement to anyone you think may be interested. This program may also be for someone that has just gone to work on a farm. Let me know if you have any questions or contact Charis Lewis at Wilson Community College (252-246-1421).
