Following the announcement of a preliminary U.S.-Japan trade agreement, National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA) CEO Dr. Barbara P. Glenn issued the following statement: “Farmers and ranchers needed a win, and the preliminary agreement between the U.S. and Japan comes at a critical time. With major competitors eyeing our market share in Japan, expanding access for U.S. producers is critical. We look forward to reviewing the details of the agreement and working with the Administration to increase food and agriculture exports.” NASDA represents the elected and appointed commissioners, secretaries, and directors of the departments of agriculture in all fifty states and four U.S. territories. NASDA grows and enhances agriculture by forging partnerships and creating consensus to achieve sound policy outcomes between state departments of agriculture, the federal government, and stakeholders.
