Tourism surges across Triad as state breaks record

All 12 Triad counties joined the other 88 North Carolina Counties in domestic visitor spending increases in 2018 as the state experienced a record year in tourism-related revenue. According to statistics from Visit N.C., Guilford County was third in visitor spending at $1.49 billion, trailing only Mecklenburg at $2.4 billion and Wake at nearly $1.5 billion. The Triad region collectively took in more than $3.3 billion in travel and tourism-related spending in 2018, up about 5.5 percent from $3.15 billion in 2017.
