North Carolina shines at American Cheese Competition

Three N.C. dairies and a specialty food company took home 10 honors last month in the American Cheese Competition. Goat Lady Dairy (Climax) earned first place (Smokey Mountain Round), two second places (Basil and Garlic Chevre and Providence), and two third places (Fig & Honey Chevre Log and Creamy Classic Chevre Log). Prodigal Farm (Rougemont) took second place with its Bearded Lady, and third place with Field of Creams. Chapel Hill Creamery (Chapel Hill) won second place with Carolina Moon, and third place with its Hickory Grove. Red Clay Gourmet (Winston-Salem) took second place with its Hickory Smoked Cheddar Pimento Cheese.
