Debbie Stabenow, ranking member on the Senate Agriculture Committee, released a trove of climate change reports by USDA researchers that include warnings for farmers and ranchers facing increasingly extreme weather, reports Pro Ag's Helena Bottemiller Evich. The Michigan Democrat said it's "outrageous" that the studies "are not being shared with the people who need to know."

POLITICO reported in June that the department has failed to publicize dozens of its own studies on climate change and the impact on food, agriculture and health. Democratic presidential candidates have also homed in on climate change in the primary, including a focus on its intersection with agriculture.

A USDA spokesperson said it's "false" to suggest officials are suppressing science. "We have repeatedly provided the Senate Agriculture Committee with evidence to the contrary," the spokesperson said in an email, adding that the studies highlighted by the Democrats were provided by USDA and are all public.

Beyond USDA: The Democratic report includes instances of potential climate censorship at the EPA, DHS and other agencies. It also points to President Donald Trump's claim that Hurricane Dorian threatened Alabama and his insistence on overruling the forecasts of NOAA scientists.
