Georgetown, Del.-based poultry processor Townsends Inc. announced it has expanded capacity by 300 percent at its Mocksville, N.C., further processing plant thanks to a new oven line.

The line handles bone-in, boneless, diced, portioned, breaded and grilled chicken products.

The $9 million expansion, completed in mid-December, added about 16,000 square feet to the 65,000-square-foot facility.

"This new line is a platform for Townsends to continue growing a key strategic product category and allows us to better meet the needs of existing and future customers," said Townsends President Chuck Dix.
