HUD says North Carolina’s long-criticized disaster spending is finally ’on pace’

In a recent regular report, the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development for the first time classified North Carolina’s spending of disaster relief money from Hurricane Matthew as “on pace.” State oversight of the Community Development Block Grant disaster recovery (CDBG-DR) program has been a matter of interest among both the state’s politicians and the survivors of 2016’s Hurricane Matthew and 2018’s Hurricane Florence.
